What a story!
Muir’s Chapel is approaching its 200th
year anniversary in 2022. It has left a footprint on the city of Greensboro and continues to make a difference in the lives of those both inside and outside of the church. Through the years, church members were charter members of Greensboro Urban Ministry, leaders in the community, and worked together to touch lives.
Muir’s Chapel offers three worship services weekly, is engaged in a myriad of outreach ministries, is home to an outstanding playschool, and excellent music is one of its trademarks.
We are more, however, than just this celebration of ministries. The church is a body of living people, journeying together side by side- forgiving, encouraging, inspiring, challenging, and loving one another. It is because we are a body that we have the courage to dig deeper and reach a greater potential together than we would separately.
The traditional services
(8:30 and 11:00 am) are held in the sanctuary. Traditional services include scripture, traditional hymns, liturgy, and preaching. The 11 am service features instrumental music and our exceptional Chancel Choir.
The Praise & Worship Service
(9 am) is held in the gym. Parking for this service is the back parking lot. This is a much more casual service featuring a Praise Band, more contemporary genres of music, and the use of electronic media to enhance the message. The dress is informal.
Children’s Choir: For the school year, children’s choir practice is held at 9:15 Sunday mornings. For those attending the 9am service, an adult leader takes the children to choir practice.
Sonrise Choir: This is for children ages 3-5. It is held in their Sunday school room at 10:30.
An Art Table: For those attending the 9am service, there is an ‘art table’ in the back of the gym where the children may draw, color, or work on art projects.
Children’s Moment: During the 11 am service, there is a children’s moment during the worship service. Children’s Church dismisses from the front row of the sanctuary after the children’s moment. Children K-2nd grade are taken to Children’s Church where they learn about Jesus’ love through teaching, crafts, and prayer. Children are brought back to the sanctuary at the end of the service to reunite with parents.
Nursery: There is a nursery available for infants through preschool ages during both the 9am and 11 am services. The Nursery is located in the Kale Center behind the church. Contact: Kim Hastings at 336-456-4205 or Kate Hudson at 336-707-0337.
Safe Sanctuary: We follow Safe Sanctuary guidelines. We are committed to protecting our children, and ask that you help keep our children and youth safe by never allowing them to roam the church unattended.
