34 Then the king will say to those at his right hand, ‘Come, you that are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; 35 for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36 I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.’ Matthew 25: 34-36 (NRSV)
Outreach is a trademark and passion at Muir’s Chapel. We take seriously Jesus’ command to feed the hungry. Two events that are ‘must go’ to events are the “Feeding of the 5000” on Good Friday each spring and our Fall Festival in October. It takes a church of volunteers to make these outreach opportunities a success. In the spring, we work together with other churches and pack 1000 boxes of food to give away. At the Fall Festival, a free meal, games, a prayer room, and lots of fellowship bring in 400 or more people from the community.
We would never be satisfied, however, with just a few events. Throughout the year, we offer a free breakfast to the community the last Saturday of each month, and feed families at the YWCA twice a month. On the first Monday of each month, lunches are packed at the church for the Interactive Resource Center. Food is collected for both Greensboro Urban Ministry and A Simple Gesture on a regular basis.
Our mission statement is “Building bridges in our community through Christ to meet spiritual and physical needs.” You are invited to build bridges with us and join in any of the volunteer opportunities found here.
We’d love your help! The following are some volunteer opportunities:
